Farewell to college life and not to Friendship !!!

Main Toh Tanha Nikal Padha Tha Raah - E- Manzil Par,
Lekin Raaste Mein Dost Milte Gaye Aur Karwan Banta Gaya...

In all probability this is the last post of my MBA life. I am currently experiencing a rush of diverse emotions as I try to put my thoughts into this post.

Two years back when I landed in Bangalore for the first time, I was very sad as it was the first time I was going away from my family and I being the eldest amongst my siblings was the most pampered child. I thought that the succeeding two years of my life in MBA would be the worst, but now I am literally chewing up my words. These two years was the most life altering phase of my life.

Today I was very reluctant to go to the farewell party but was cajoled into going by my roomie Baba (Harshit). As I entered the audi, the feeling began to ink in that this was the last celebration in our college or maybe in my beautiful student life.

There were all my friends around be who were dancing and frolicking in joy abandon. As I stood there in the midst of the melee in the blaring music, the entire two years were flashing in front of my eyes. There was a wistful smile on my face which was just to stop the tears from rolling down because Mummyjee always told me 'Boys don't cry'. 15 days down the line I might not be even able to see some of my friends who had made my journey memorable.

I would miss getting up early in the morning to catch the 8 O'clock class.
I would miss running around the hostel asking my friends to help me with Finance.
I would miss doing my friends' assignments.
I would miss opening my books hardly 4 hours before the exams.
I would miss playing Counter Strike till the early dawn.
I would miss vehemently defending that King Khan is India's Biggest Superstar ever.
I would miss placing bets with everyone that Manchester United would win every match.
I would miss trying to put my friends' proxy attendance.
I would miss....................................................

The list is endless and I would need another two years to put on record all the things I would be missing.

I never thought that life would be so meherbaan on me to grant me such beautiful friends about whom I had already written in detail. Had it not been for my friends, these two years would have been a living hell for me.

I would like to thank my God for blessing and guiding me in these two years. I would like to thanks my family for standing by me and supporting me and loving me unconditionally.

If ever at any point of time in my life, I feel down or low and I would simply close my eyes and think of the beautiful time that I spent in my MBA college as the pleasant memories of this college would wipe away all my unpleasant ones.

I would like to thank my Parents in particular for making me walk on a path of roses all through my life, for giving me everything I ever thought of, for never ever telling me NO for anything, for loving me always. I am because you are otherwise I am nobody.

I would like to thank my faculty for imbibing in me the practical values of life and teaching me everything that I did not know and everything that is required to be known in this dog-eat-dog world.

I would like to thank my beautiful bunch of friends for just being with me through every crest and trough that we together underwent in our two years of MBA. I would be missing you all a lot !!!

Finally, I would like to thank my juniors for throwing such a wonderful farewell party which gave us an opportunity to carry some memories for a lifetime.

Gehri Dosti - The Finale

The journey 'Gehri Dosti' which had started off on 4th December 2009 has finally reached its finale with this post.

Over the last month and a half I tried to capture almost the entire two years I spent with some of my amazing friends. It always excited me to write about my friends and made sure that I bring out some or the other uniqueness in all my friends. Though I think I did not succeed in capturing their true persona truly nonetheless I made a sincere attempt to do so.

There are still many of my friends who are unique for different ways about whom I have not written. I am solely to be blamed for that because maybe I have run out of my language skills in order to capture their true persona and writing half baked write ups about them would be doing injustice to them. I wholeheartedly apologize to all my other friends about whom I was unable or rather incapable to write in detail.

But still I would try to capture some unique, cheeky, serious, humorous, anecdotes about them which follow below:

My Hostel (Shree Comforts B - Block) friends:

Mehul Sahastrabudhe - 'Do you have any stuff which is classified as ......???'
Nakul Charekar - My saathi in almost all our trips to Hyderabad.
Sanil Ajit Desai - The most modest person I have ever met.
Abhinav Kalanee - Bhai, Peeyo lekin jeeyo... Incredibly funny.
Sonal - 'Punjabi log kuch nahin kiye toh gaane ka album toh zaroor banate hai'
Sushant Saxena - You name any movie and he has it....(Pun Intended)
Taheer - The Underdog. In first sem he was four point noone and now he is seven point someone.
Rakesh
- Good natured and a Music Guru
Nilay
- Chess Champion
Sujeet - The only person who comes very very close to Rancho of 3 Idiots.

My female friends:

Nida Hassan
- A relatively new friend and a champion Chemistry scholar. The salt we eat is Sodium Chloride.....:-)
Manny Saxena
- The proverbial Tomboy
Sheena Mathur
- Heyyyyy Sheena !!! Her voice echoes in our flat even in her absence.
Shivani Sharma
- Never seen her without a smile.

My Counter Strike buddies:

Vivek Bhutani
- Bhai even if I play with thak thak, then also you are a much better player than me.
Yaduraj
- Great dancer but chip chip kar waar karne waala in CS.
Abhishek Nayyar
- I guess the name is enough !!
Gopal
- Full of life
Nilesh
- Soft spoken Guy
Abhishek Agarwal
(code 007) - Not interacted much but a very good CS player.

My College buddies:

Rahul Agarwal
- Most underrated guy in our college.
Nishant Vijayvergia
- awesome blogger and humorous guy.
Pulkit Mathur
- The guy who can do no wrong.....ever.
Gurpreet Singh
- Yellow is his favorite color...hehehehe
Mohammed Kashif
- Probably the only shayar in our college.
Mitrajit Bhowmick
- Arguably the best footballer in our college.
Saurabh Lunker
- The MOST creative guy in our college (I mean it)

Though this is not an exhaustive list, but I have tried my best to capture all my friends here. In case I missed any, then I apologize to them in anticipation because even Dimaag Toh Bachcha Hai Ji.....

Apart from these I have interacted with many many people in college and would like to extend my wishes to them also.

My Orkut and Facebook friends - Good Luck to you all and hope we do remain in touch.

Good Luck and Best Wishes to even my friend's friends.

It was an amazing experience or I would like to call it an adventure with all you amazing guys over the past two years and I wish you all the very best luck and heartiest wishes in all your future endeavors.

With this its curtains down on my section of 'Gehri Dosti'

Mukul Kumar Ranjan

My next friend in the section of 'Gehri Dosti' is Mukul Kumar Ranjan.

I am writing about Mukul Bhai so late in 'Gehri Dosti' because I had to make sure that I portray the actual picture of what Mukul Bhai is all about - something which not everyone is aware of.

Mukul Bhai is a bunch of oxymorons put together favorably to get a niche picture that should not undermine the cult status that Mukul Bhai commands. Mukul Bhai is the most experienced amongst my bunch of 'hard nut' friends. But that was never a hurdle is all the fun we had over the year.

He was a late acquaintance to me as I got to know him only when I shifted to Jewels from my hostel. Initially I perceived him to be a kadak uncle types person. But 2 weeks down the line, we were sitting together pulling Adi's leg. This is the kind of a person he is. Mostly keeps to himself but never alienates himself from his flatmates.

His favorite is his roomie - Adi !!! When Mukul Bhai was to become Adi's roomie, we all knew that he would be in for an adventure. And this became evident when Adi asked Mukul Bhai about some veg and non veg (I censored it). Mukul Bhai must have been astonished but got a good measure what he could expect in the coming days.

Mukul Bhai adores Arjun a lot. He lovingly calls Arjun as Arjooooooooooon !! Hehehehehe.

Anything about Mukul Bhai would be incomplete without mentioning the kind of songs he listens. Ghazals occupy the top slot. Jagjit Singh is his favorite and for some reason best known to Mukul Bhai, he is addicted to the songs of Aashiqui and Saajan. You people can also guess the reasons, I am not telling any. :)

Mukul Bhai was the first person to predict that Baba (Harshit) often goes to the Himalayas because he is seldom seen in the flat. Laloo Prasad Yadav is his favorite politician, He enjoys listening to Lalu's english speeches.

Another aspect of Mukul Bhai is that whatever new thing he sees or hears, he makes sure that everyone in the flat also sees or hears it. He acts as a cooling effect of his roomie's histrionics. And yeah, let me type this before it lips outta my mind. Mukul Bhai has even seen a movie alone at INOX. That was a bolt from the blue to me.

Mukul Bhai is a very open hearted and a straight forward person. He just speaks his mind out. He loves riding bikes and is forever ready for any adventure that gets planned in our flat.

You can always find him in his room either listening to some songs or watching some movie. He can watch as many as three movies in a day. He can send people into splits by turning the most serious situation into a funny one. The best reaction which Mukul Bhai ever exhibited was when Adi lost his jacket which was presented to him by someone special??? Again I am not going into the nitty gritties. LOLS

Mukul Bhai must have been the happiest person on earth, when the blue gate near our college was removed. Kyun Mukul Bhai??

All said and done it was a jolly ride with him over the year we spent together.

So Dost!! Good Luck to you in all your future endeavors.

Rahul Prem

My next friend in the section of 'Gehri Dosti' is Rahul Prem.

The most striking feature of this friend of mine is his name - RAHUL PREM. Rahul was King Khan's name is most of his successful movies (Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, K3G etc) and Prem was Salman Khan's name in most of his successful films (Maine Pyar Kiya, Hum Aapke Hain Koun etc). Now the irony is that both King Khan and Salman Khan are not on talking terms and the only place you can find them together is in my friend's name.

For some reasons best known to him, he is affectionately called BOSS by us. Maybe it was because initially he was the second best CS player after Karan, but that name stuck to him. There are times when it feels odd to listen to his actual name as we have all been habituated to calling and hearing Boss only. But he is now hooked to FIFA 2010 which he plays with Mayank.

He is a soft spoken guy who mostly prefers to keep by himself but again as they say Silence is Gold. His rush of intelligence only becomes visibly when he speaks something. He is an extremely well cultured and well mannered individual. He doesn't argue much even if he knows that the other person is wrong. Maybe this habit was cultivated in him by being Sumit's roomie over the past two years coz Sumit comes up with such profound earth shattering theories that all Boss can do is remain dumbfounded. Hehehehehe.......

Another aspect of him is his whistling ability. He can sing any song completely just by whistling. This is the reason why I call him the 'Whistle Master'. He can dance also. He can patent his unique dance step which he created for the song 'Aahun Aahun'. LOLS.

So Dost!! Good Luck to you in all your future endeavors.

Hint about my next friend:

He DOESN'T like the song 'Dil Toh Bachcha Hai Ji'..... Can you believe it?????

Kapil Bhati

My next friend in the section of 'Gehri Dosti' is Kapil Bhati.

If there could ever be a live example of 'Size does not matter', then it has to be my friend Kapil or Bhati as he is more popularly known as. He is one of those guys who takes life as it comes. Perhaps that would explain the reason behind his long sleeping hours.

A total movie buff and could be seen watching movies in his room as late as five in the morning. He has a huge collection of downloaded movies and my only source to get all the latest Hollywood movies. He does not download any movie, all the movies in his collection are simply amazing.

He is also hooked onto various computer games like EA Sports' Cricket, Counter Strike and some other shooting game whose name I can't currently recall. The best part is he loves playing test matches in the Cricket game and plays exactly in the same fashion as the actual test matches are played. That is the reason why his virtual test matches also last five days !!!

His bike is like our 7th flatmate. His bike comes in handy in needy situations and almost everyone has rode his bike and he maintains his bike very well. He has still preserved his bike in probably the same condition as he bought it.

He is full of lighter veins and his laughter reverbrates like waves of thunders in our flat. He is still laughing while watching some movie as I type these lines. He has another distinction to his name. Yeah !! He was Aadi's roommate for the entire first year at our hostel. Now that in itself is a high recognition. For him finance is like his part of life. He would be appearing for CA exams later this year. Wishing him all the best.

I was told by many people to write about his style of walking also. Yeah, he has a unique style of walking which is akin to Catwalk. The typical walking with the beautiful alternate swaying of his hips. Hehehehehe.....

But he is one helluva soul with whom fun seldom ceases to exist.

So Dost!! Good Luck to you in all your future endeavors.

Hint about my next friend:

I call him Whistle Master

Mayank Suri

My next friend in the section of 'Gehri Dosti' is Mayank Suri.

My first interaction with him is someting which I remember vividly. It was centered around Homosexuality !!!!! (Before you can draw any further conclusions let me make it clear that we both are perfectly straight and both of us like girls !!!!). He is a techno-savvy guy who loves trying his hands at various computer games. Computer Games are like his viagra, he gets totally rejuvenated while playing them and can master any game within days of he playing it.

He is from Lucknow, so now you can guess what kind of a guy he can probably be. Yeah he is very much a tunde kabab wala. He wears his heart on his sleeve and is very passionate. He is an outdoors guy who is forever ready for any adventure or masti or fun on the run.

One thing which you can never forget once you meet him is his illuminating smile. His smile is such that you can carry with you, his smile pierces through all your misnomers and shines within like a sparkling diamond, his smile is something which gives you a crystallizing effect, his smile truly and deservingly qualifies undisputed for the proverbial 'Million Dollar Smile'.

He may not share every second of his life with you but he is very clear about his intensions. He is soft spoken but can get into fights like any guy can.......Jatin anyone???? He is a fun guy to be with and you totally enjoy his company.

There are certain things about him which he can actually patent and one of those things is his famous dialogue:
'Haan Bol Bachcha'

Currently he is hooked onto the FIFA 2010 game and plays it very religiously. His calm attitude is the perfect antidote to his more aggressive roommate. All said and done, Mayank is fun, unique and interesting.

So Dost!! Good Luck to you in all your future endeavors.

Hint about my next friend:

Famous for his unique style of walking (Cat Walk)

Aditya Agarwal

My next friend in the section of 'Gehri Dosti' is Aditya Agarwal.

Aadi is my flatmate and I got to know him well over the past one year as we lived together. Yeah he comes across as a different and unassuming soul.

I don't know but he has a certain flair that makes him very popular amongst people. Anybody who has met him even once would never tend to forget him or his mannerisms. But he is a very loyal friend as he takes birthday bumps on everybidy's behalf. Dost Ho Toh Aisa !!!
Now coming to his core competency. He is the financial analyst of Flat # 508, Jewels Apartments. He takes care of all the expenses incurred by us on his famed excel sheet. Every week we get a mail from him regarding all our expenses, balnce and dues. He is so quick at doing calculations that within a matter of seconds he pulls out his excel sheet and can tell how much money we spent on any particular day of a particular month.

Yeah and now I am going to reveal his worst kept secret !!!!!
HE HAS A GIRL FRIEND.........with whom he talks daily for hours and hours at a trot. Ask my flatmates and they will tell you. The day becomes very boring untill and unless you donot talk to Aadi.

He can make an awesome French Omlette and every weekend he goes to 'Ande Ka Funda' to learn how to make World's best Omlettes. Hahahahahaha.......

He is a miraculous human being. One day his rib bone disappeared and reappeared the next day. Now isn't that a miracle that even Albert Einstein could not find a solution to. He makes people laugh a lot around him and is always in the heart of all the celebrations held in our flat. Its almost like 'Party mein Aadi nahin toh Mazaa nahin'

So Dost!! Good Luck to you in all your future endeavors.

Hint about my next friend:

His smile is his most striking feature
