Be Afraid Be Very Afraid !!!!!

'Surrender to Virender', this is what the Times Of India was shouting today. And the South African bowlers did exactly that. Virender Sehwag is still not out on 309 runs. There are two things that come unannounced; the first one is death and the second one is Sehwag's carnage (Ntini will understand this better). No matter where the ball was bowled, it was dispatched to the boundary. The faster the ball came, the faster is disappeared out of the ground. After all it was Virender Sehwag who was at the helm of the affairs.

When Sehwag came in to bat, no one expected the carnage that was to follow. Because he had received his 'Maa Ka Phone'. The way he was batting it looked like he could bat with the same speed and same vigour throughout 5 days and score 1000 runs and I am not exaggerating. No matter who the bowler was, Sehwag was equally brutal on them.

I have got an interesting statistic on Sehwag. The moment he comes in to bat, the chances of him scoring a century is 25%. The moment he scores his century, the chances of his scoring 150 runs is 80%. The moment he scores 150 runs, the chances of his scoring 200 runs is 70%. The moment he scores 200 runs, his chances of scoring 300 runs is 100%.

With another two days left to play, only God knows how much will Virender Sehwag score. But I am putting my money on him scoring 500 runs !!!!!

REDS RULE !!!!!

The only colour that was splashed all over the world this weekend was undoubtedly the colour that signifies danger-RED. Well, I am talking about the two sporting events that took place on this Sunday i.e: 23/03/2008. The first one was the Malaysian Grand Prix Formula 1 race and the second one was the Barclays Premier League football match between Manchester United and Liverpool.
Malaysian Grand Prix:-
1- Kimi Raikkonen- Ferrari
2- Robert Kubica- BMW Sauber
3- Heiki Kovalanain- McLaren Mercedes
Ferrari which had a disasterous race in the season opener stormed back to win both the pole position and the race, courtesy Felipe Massa and Kimi Raikkonen respectively. Had Felipe Massa not spun off on the 31st lap of the race, then Ferrari would have surely have had a 1-2 finish. But nonetheless it was Kimi Raikkonen who won the race for Ferrari. Now the real battle begins between Ferrari and the McLaren teams as only three points separate Kimi Raikkonen and Lewis Hamilton in the race for the Championship. With the next race coming up at Bahrain, which has traditionally been a Ferrari stronghold, the race for Championship gets even more exciting as the competition between Ferrari and McLaren goes down to the wire.
Barclays Premier League:-
Manchester United-3 defeated Liverpool-0
The most exciting match on the super Sunday was undoubtedly Man Utd Vs Liverpool. Though a lot of people expected it to be a close match but many of them were heart broken when they realised that Man Utd had virtually turned the game into a one-sided affair. Man Utd could have
won by even a bigger margin had it not been for the brilliant goalkeeping of the Liverpool goal keeper. Man Utd got into the lead by an unexpected goal from Wes Brown which was followed up by Cristiano Ronaldo and the last goal was scored by Nani. Liverpool were reduced to mere spectators as Man Utd unleashed their warfare which decimated and reduced the Liverpool players into mere card boards. Now with only 7 matches left for the Premier League to finish, Man Utd look set to retain their winners trophy this year also.
P.S:- I am a die hard supporter of both Ferrari and Manchester United.

This RACE Is Evil And Sometimes Evil Is Beautiful

'Mujhe sirf imaandaar logon se darr lagta hai'.

The above dialogue which Saif Ali Khan says at the end of the movie sums up the entire thing that the movie Race is all about. Mystery, Betrayal, Deceit, Double Cross, suspense- if you mix all these and add a tadka of masala, then you too can become the makers of Race (I know I am sounding absurdly optimistic), but this is the genre that has become almost sync with Abbas-Mustan(the makers of Race) and Race is no different.

The film starts off with two scheming brothers trying to kill each other and the remaining 3 hours guarantee a roller coaster ride as the film moves through various twists and turn and with almost every character having a devil inside him/her. Believe me from the moment the film began I was on my seat's edge. The film is high on the substance coupled by a high dose of style. Whether it is the ever thinking Saif or the alcoholic Akshaye or the fruit munching Anil. Well I would try not to give the suspense away but there are a total of three deaths in the movie. Whose deaths?? Watch the movie and find out yourself.

The film unfolds at a brisk pace and the only thing that hampers the pace of the movie is the ill placed songs which break the narrative. The heroines are okay but the scene stealers are Saif, Anil and Johnny Lever (Though he has only one scene in the film but he totally leaves an impact. See his hilarious comparison of his wife to a cell phone)

The Final Word: - Recommended, but don't forget your popcorn (as you might need it)

The Memorize And Vomit System

Today as I was going through 'The Times Of India', I came across an article titled 'Memorize Or Perish' and considering that this is the exam period, this article is apt and kudos to the writer of this article.

Nwadays lot of emphasis is being laid on rote learning rather than understanding of the subject. I have a friend of mine who always stands first in class, but is unable to explain even a simple concept in say semiconductor devices or digital signal processing. Because my friend is virtually a computer who can memorize the entire text book without understanding even a wee bit. As a result he always stands first in class. Hey I just got a million dollar tip on how to stand first in class!!! Just memorize (Butty) the whole text book and don't waste your brains on understanding the concept and there you are- The Class Topper. After all this is what you are expected to do- Just get the marks and your job is over.

Whenever the exams are round the corner, the newspapers are flooded with umpteen articles on students committing suicides due to exam stress. It shows that the value of life pales in comparison to the amount of marks. But the problem is neither with the students who commit suicide nor with the newspapers that carry these reports. The major fault lies within the pattern in which the students are examined. How on the earth can you justify the method in which the students are tested in the knowledge they acquired over one year in freaking three hours???

The examination system which is followed is most of the schools can be safely and politely called as 'The Memorize And Vomit System'. The more you can memorize, the more you can vomit on your exam paper and the more you can vomit on your exam paper, the more are your chances to excel in exams. So in the entire process you just dont need to understand anything.
And this process will continue to remain the same untill something path-breaking is done. I think I have wasted enough of my time in venting my ire but is anyone listening?

IPL: I Will Be Rooting For Kolkatta Knight Riders

Now that the inaugural IPL season is just round the corner and a flurry of teams (there are around 8 teams) trying to catch the public imagination, the hype and the craze is unparalled. Well, I would directly like to come to the point. I would be rooting for the Kolkatta Knight Riders. And no I am not from Kolkatta as you might have expected. I am from Hyderabad. But hey, Hyderabad too has got an IPL team but still I am not supporting the Hyderabadi team and do u know why? Coz Andrew Symonds (the playerI hate the most) is playing for Hyderabad.
So then why have I opted for Kolkatta Knight Riders(KKR)? Because of two reasons. The first one is that the owner of KKR is my favourite actor SRK and secondly it has Ishant Sharma(my fav bowler). So just can't wait for the season to begin from April 20. And I sincerely hope that KKR win this tournament, but I know it will be hard coz Mohali and Hyderabad teams are also well balanced. But the bottom line is that the coach of KKR is John Buchnan(the same person who took australian cricket to the heights of invincibility), so KKR does enjoy some kind of Edge over others and I hope this edge carries and KKR emerges the winner.
By the way the team of KKR after the second round of IPL auction is as follows:-
Team name: Kolkatta Knight Riders
Dress: Black and Gold
Owner: Shah Rukh Khan
Team:
1-Sourav Ganguly(Captain,India)
2-Ricky Ponting-Australia
3-Ishant Sharma-India
4-Chris Gayle-West Indies
5-Brendon McCullum-New Zealand
6-David Hussey-Australia
7-Shoaib Akhtar-Pakistan
8-Umar Gul-Pakistan
9-Salman Butt-Pakistan
10-Mohammed Hafeez-Pakistan
11-Murali Karthik-India
12-Ajit Agarkar-India
13-Tatenda Taibu-Zimbabwe
14-Iqbal Abdullah-India
15-Siddharth Kaul-India
