'Mujhe sirf imaandaar logon se darr lagta hai'.
The above dialogue which Saif Ali Khan says at the end of the movie sums up the entire thing that the movie Race is all about. Mystery, Betrayal, Deceit, Double Cross, suspense- if you mix all these and add a tadka of masala, then you too can become the makers of Race (I know I am sounding absurdly optimistic), but this is the genre that has become almost sync with Abbas-Mustan(the makers of Race) and Race is no different.
The film starts off with two scheming brothers trying to kill each other and the remaining 3 hours guarantee a roller coaster ride as the film moves through various twists and turn and with almost every character having a devil inside him/her. Believe me from the moment the film began I was on my seat's edge. The film is high on the substance coupled by a high dose of style. Whether it is the ever thinking Saif or the alcoholic Akshaye or the fruit munching Anil. Well I would try not to give the suspense away but there are a total of three deaths in the movie. Whose deaths?? Watch the movie and find out yourself.
The film unfolds at a brisk pace and the only thing that hampers the pace of the movie is the ill placed songs which break the narrative. The heroines are okay but the scene stealers are Saif, Anil and Johnny Lever (Though he has only one scene in the film but he totally leaves an impact. See his hilarious comparison of his wife to a cell phone)
The Final Word: - Recommended, but don't forget your popcorn (as you might need it)
