My 1st sem exams have just concluded and now I am back in Hyderabad for our sem vacations. The first sem at my b-school ended in a jiffy and atleast for 15 days I am free from all those gruelling presentations, reports, exams whatever.....
But the 1st sem was a rocking one despite all odds. The best phase was maybe the exam time.....surprised??? Hell Yeah, staying awake all night, trying to jam in as much info as possible, watching American Pie just to rejuvenate ourselves etc. It was one helluva time.
Now back in my hometown I am actually breathing easy and preparing myself for the next adventure i.e the 2nd sem. My initial skeptism about how I could adjust in an alien environ(bangalore) amidst unknown people was crushed brutally as we formed a formidable team with people from all parts of India gelling together. There were many new things to be learned, new places to be visited(but I still feel bangalore is all about MG road, Brigade road, Forum Mall and Garuda Mall). Learning not only from our Profs but also from many intelligent friends I had around me. It pays to be amongst intelligent peers coz some of their intelligence always rubs on you. The best phrase that I learnt from one of my friend was ' If you cant answer them , then confuse them'. Ha ha ha. This was the most innovative phrase I heard all my life.
My hostel mates were like one big family with whom I shared all my highs and lows. Specially those birthday parties were rocking!!!! They were like a whiff of fresh air in an alien land.
And finally about my class Section H!!!!!!. To put it in one phrase, I would simply say SECTION H ROCKED !!!!!

An Adventure Trip Called MBA

Well..... it is the same case with me too. Initially I too had a rosy picture of MBA etched in my mind, but ultimately it had to change and I am enjoying this change. The best thing I think comes when I come to the hostel after attending my classes at 5:30 in the evening. I have to complete all the assignments given to me and also study for the topic which is to be taught tomorrow before midnight so that I could watch the Euro-2008, which starts at midnight and spans around two hours and again getting up at 5 in the morning. PHEW!!! It is very tiresome but exciting.
Since I am from an engineering background, the fun lies in studying Accounts. Staring endlessly into the serene pages of T.S Grewal or Hanif Mukherjee and then trying to figure out what is debit or credit. Just imagine the happiness you get when you don't know the ABC of accounting and yet you have got the journal and the ledger entry correctly. I have experienced this happiness many times.
Pre-MBA I hardly ever read anything other than the sports section in 'The Times Of India', or perhaps the 'Hyderabad Times'. But now I spend more time reading 'The Economic Times' rather than the sports section of TOI.
In my Sundays I have kept aside 5 hours for my free work. 2 hours of extra sleep so that I sleep for 6 hours atleast on a Sunday and the remaining 3 hours for Watching TV(preferably a Shah Rukh Khan or a Kareena Kapoor movie).
I have just started my adventure trip in the MBA world and am already loving every bit of it.
