DADA walks into the Sunset


Ex India's captain Sourav Ganguly has announced his retirement from the international cricket, said on Tuesday. He added that, "I have spoken to my teammates and hopefully I will go out on a winning note."Ganguly said he would be retiring from the game at the end of the India-Australia Test series, which begins in Bangalore on Thursday.

In a press conference in Bangalore, Sourav announced his retirement in front of a room full of shocked journalists. Dada informed that the current four match series against the Australians will be his last.

Bengal tiger start his Test career in Lords with century. Sourav played 109 Test and hit 15 hundreds and 34 fifties and his best in Test match is 239 against Pakistan at Bangalore last year. Dada played 311 ODI matches and 22 century & 72 half century hits. Indian team reach in 2003 World Cup final under Ganguly captaincy. His also taken 32 wickets in Test match and 100 wickets in One day. Captaincy records: Won 21 and lost 13 Test from 49 and ODI won 76 and lost 66 from 147 matches.

Ganguly Career Highlights:-

1991-92: On debut tour of Oz, allegedly refused to carry drinks. Denied reports.

2001: Earned Oz skipper Steve Waugh's ire by keeping him waiting for toss.

2002: Bared chest on Lords's balcony.

2005: Banned for 6 matches (later reduced to 4) for slow over rate against Pak.

2005: Spat with coach Chappell resulted in him losing captaincy and spot in ODI side.

2005-06: Dropped against Sri Lanka. Brought back for Pak tour after BCCI president Sharad Pawar reportedly stepped in. Seen in animated chat with Rahul Dravid, apparently expressing willingness to play as opener.

2008: October 07, Announce retirement.
