Shah Rukh Khan-The One Man Industry

Shah Rukh Khan-the name is in sync with the heart beats of more than a million people around the world. People tell that SRK (as he is fondly called) is the numero uno of the India Film Industry, but I strongly beg to differ. Well in my opinion SRK is the industry himself. I don't think there has ever been an actor in the film industry who has been so much loved and so much hated at the same times. there are people who swear allegiance to SRK and at the same time there are numerous others who are just waiting to rip him apart. So one thing becomes clear that you can either hate him or love him, but you just cant ignore him.

2007 has been an exceptional year for this ever proactive actor. Starting off with Chak De India -a film that was completely written off before it was released that even the producers started having doubts about this movie and they went slow on promotion. But once the film released there was a mass hysteria (as always) all over the world. The film had finally managed to hit the bull's eye and Chak De had become the sports anthem of Indian sports. And SRK gave one of his best performances in this beautiful film and slowly but steadily the film reached the blockbuster status garnering around 65 crores from India and another 20 crores from the overseas territory.

Then in November came the storm in waiting OSO. A film that had been engrossed in an ugly spitfire with another film that was to release the same day- Saawariya. And when both the films released, OSO practically ran a one horse race. This film redefined the concept of marketing. SRK being the producer of this film marketed the film so well that even in places like Chennai, where Hindi is spoken rarely, the film took a bumper opening. As the things stand today, OSO has collected around 86 crores in India and 45 crores in the overseas and it is still strong in both the territories.
