Kolkata Knight Riders Loses Its Biggest Fan

Prior to the beginning of IPL season 2, the only club that made all the noises was Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). Be it the signing of Mashrafe Mortaza for an astronomical amount or the multiple captaincy theory or the lambasting of a certain Sunil Gavaskar, KKR was every where. But as soon as the IPL began it was reduced to sawdust. The club that began with a huge roar is now moving with a frigtened whimper.

Nothing is going right for the KKR at this moment. Starting from the captain's form to the depthless batting and very mediocre bowling coupled by miserable fielding (especially Aakash Chopra - God!!! How did he fit into the 20-20 format???)

The only bright spots in KKR's crumbling armour are Chris Gayle (but he is leaving in a week's time)and Sourav Ganguly (He has proved why people call him DADA).

Though I am from the city of pearls (Hyderabad), I still chose to support KKR, just because Hyderabad's team had Andrew Symonds (the player I hate the most) and KKR's owner was The King and it had Chris Gayle, Ishant Sharma and David Hussey (some of the players I admire the most).

My friends who are reading this post will know how hardcore KKR fan I was. I must admit that KKR is the Real Madrid of IPL. The most glamourous club to be in but very mediocre in its performance.

KKR started its second season at IPL with a defeat to Deccan Chargers, but then again I thought that it was one of the off days of KKR and took it in my stride.

The next match was won by KKR against Punjab. Thanks to the rain and an unstoppable Chris Gayle. I thought that KKR was beginning to gel together as a team.

Then came an irony of fate. KKR lost to a fluke team like Rajasthan Royals. Mainly due to the selection of Ajanta Mendis as the bowler for the super over. Here the entire world realized why Dada is considered India's best captain ever. Had he ben the captain he would never have given Mendis the ball, specially not when Yusuf Pathan was batting.

Then came the final nail. Mumbai Indians just blew away the hapless KKR who were no match for the Mumbai Indians in any department of the game. Agreed that they were a bowler short as Anureet Singh had hurt himself even before he could bowl. But their batting fell apart like seven pins.

So now for me IPL 2 is over because untill there is divine intervention, KKR can never make it to the semifinals. But this doesn't mean that I will support any other team. Who knows I may support KKR in season 3 (provided they improve substantially), but definitely not in the ongoing season.

Now it doesn't matter to me who wins or loses the IPL.

May the most deserving team win.

Wham Bam, Thank You Mam!!!!!

The second IPL season gets underway from April 18th. After having seen the explosive first season, I just can't wait for the second season to begin. The second season is being played in South Africa, the same place where India had won the inaugural T-20 World Cup. With the immense number of fours and sixes which rain in IPL, this tournament can be safely called 'Wham Bam, Thank You Mam!!!!!' which means either you hit out or get out.

As always this year too I am gonna root for Kolkata Knight Riders - The Most Profitable Club in IPL. They will be kickstarting their campaign on April 19th against Deccan Chargers. Whether its the multiple captain theory or the mind numbing signing of Mashrafe Mortaza, KKR never ever fails to make news. Credit of which must go to its charismatic owner - THE KING.

This year I would love to see KKR opening their batting with Chris Gayle and Brendon McCullum - probably the most devastating opening pair in IPL.

David Hussey would be another interesting watch as the pitches in South Africa are quite similar to those in Australia fom where he belongs.

And not to forget our very own Ishant Sharma, who brings in fear into the hearts of the batsmen.

This year even Sprite is sponsoring KKR which further reinstates the fact that KKR is the most sponsored team.

Players to watch out for:-
1) Chris Gayle
2) Brendon McCullum
3) David Hussey
4) Ishant Sharma
5) Mashrafe Mortaza

My prediction for KKR in IPL 2:- Semifinals

War cry of KKR:- Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo

Awesome Twosome...........They Will Destroy !!!!!

Shoaib Akhtar is cleared to play the IPL!!!!!

This was the headline that was screaming out of the news channels today an I being a staunch supporter of the Kolkata Knight Riders could'nt have been happier. After all one of the most controversial players in the history of sports would be making his debut in the cash rich IPL.

Just imagine Shoaib Akhtar and Ishant Sharma (the two fastest bowlers of the world) bowling in tandem. Even the best batsmen would have their hearts in their throats. Luck has finally smiled at the Kolkata Knight Riders, which had been the most unlucky team of the IPL. With Brendon McCullum, Ricky Ponting and Chris Gayle not able to play, their batting was and is very thin. But the inclusion of Shoaib Akhtar would infuse new enthusiasm into the team when it comes out to play the subsequent matches, hopefully.

Had Kolkata Knight Riders been at their full strength, then there would never be a doubt who the winners of the inaugral IPL would have been.

So all the Sehwags, Gilchrists, Pathans, Dhonis, Yuvrajs etc, Beware!!!. Those eight overs bowled by Shoaib and Ishant(4 overs each) could just take your breaths away. The IPL has become even more exciting and the war cry of the Kolkata Knight Riders-'Korbo Lorbo Jeetbo' has become more dangerous.

IPL: I Will Be Rooting For Kolkatta Knight Riders

Now that the inaugural IPL season is just round the corner and a flurry of teams (there are around 8 teams) trying to catch the public imagination, the hype and the craze is unparalled. Well, I would directly like to come to the point. I would be rooting for the Kolkatta Knight Riders. And no I am not from Kolkatta as you might have expected. I am from Hyderabad. But hey, Hyderabad too has got an IPL team but still I am not supporting the Hyderabadi team and do u know why? Coz Andrew Symonds (the playerI hate the most) is playing for Hyderabad.
So then why have I opted for Kolkatta Knight Riders(KKR)? Because of two reasons. The first one is that the owner of KKR is my favourite actor SRK and secondly it has Ishant Sharma(my fav bowler). So just can't wait for the season to begin from April 20. And I sincerely hope that KKR win this tournament, but I know it will be hard coz Mohali and Hyderabad teams are also well balanced. But the bottom line is that the coach of KKR is John Buchnan(the same person who took australian cricket to the heights of invincibility), so KKR does enjoy some kind of Edge over others and I hope this edge carries and KKR emerges the winner.
By the way the team of KKR after the second round of IPL auction is as follows:-
Team name: Kolkatta Knight Riders
Dress: Black and Gold
Owner: Shah Rukh Khan
Team:
1-Sourav Ganguly(Captain,India)
2-Ricky Ponting-Australia
3-Ishant Sharma-India
4-Chris Gayle-West Indies
5-Brendon McCullum-New Zealand
6-David Hussey-Australia
7-Shoaib Akhtar-Pakistan
8-Umar Gul-Pakistan
9-Salman Butt-Pakistan
10-Mohammed Hafeez-Pakistan
11-Murali Karthik-India
12-Ajit Agarkar-India
13-Tatenda Taibu-Zimbabwe
14-Iqbal Abdullah-India
15-Siddharth Kaul-India
